OptiStem XTRA (cemented femoral hip stem)

The OptiStem XTRA is a cemented femoral stem with a centraliser. The implant design is inspired by implants with 99-100% survivorship rate on twenty years follow up, founded on data from leading hip implant registers. The system is available in eleven sizes with suitable offsets to address diverse needs of the patient populations and a variety of hip indications from fracture to revision.

Design Features

  • Clinical Heritage – modelled on implants with the highest survivorship, reducing the costs of care, while improving patient outcomes.
  • Cobalt free implant – minimizing the chances of hypersensitivity reactions.
  • Highly polished surface – establishes and maintains taper engagement, reducing abrasion at the stem/cement interface.
  • Generic design – based on implants that are known to be successful, the OptiStem extra is designed for adoption with little adjustment to surgical technique.

Additional education and support is available from Orthimo to complete and optimise a transition to this system where needed.
